As many of you know, the majority of the work I do these days is for New England Home, based in Boston. I’ve been the Homes Editor there since the end of 2006, joining Kyle Hoepner (now the editor) and Paula Bodah (our senior editor) in the second issue. While I still get to style beautiful photo shoots for Better Homes & Gardens, Traditional Home, Rizzoli, a host of other magazines, architects and interior designers, I am constantly blown away by the houses we photograph and print in New England Home. These are projects that you could easily imagine seeing in a House Beautiful, Elle Decor or Coastal Living. We also use photographers who shoot for Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Veranda and those already mentioned.
The Spring issue just came out and I’m so proud to say that I not only styled the cover, but I styled each of the four features and wrote one of them (writing is one of my other full-time passions).
The magazine debuted a redesign earlier in the year and I have to say I love the new layouts possible. Here’s one of the spreads with a couple of highlights from the shoot.
I love this master bedroom. Designer John Roch and Gary Chase upholstered the entire headboard wall.
Here’s another spread and a great guest room detail.
Two other features round out an issue that also includes stories on beautiful gardens and picks by Connecticut interior designers.
Here’s the apartment of Tiffany Eastman.
This is a photo of the kitchen that didn’t make it into the magazine.
The shoot at this house designed by Joyce Clear happened on the day of the major snowstorm back in February. It took us hours to get home from Westport that day as we creeped through the snow in four-wheel drive. It’s amazing you can’t tell!
