I was scouting in northern Vermont earlier this week and spent the afternoon with interior designer Sheldon Tager when I noticed a huge trend in his work. Now Sheldon, who was born and raised in Montreal, spent a good portion of his career in California, and now works out of Boston and owns the homes furnishings store Belle Maison (www.belle-maison.com), has an amazing eye for antiques. A number of years ago Sheldon purchased an antique samovar that he wasn’t sure what to do with so he turned it into a lamp for his living room. The idea spawned a whole collection of utilitarian objects as lamps. Here are few that I saw this week.
